Cultivating Wellness and Community through
Indoor, Aeroponic Farming
Welcome to AboutFace Farm, where innovative agricultural practices are actively used for safely planting, growing, and harvesting healthy produce, rich in nutrients, for our local communities.
Located in Cumming, Georgia, AboutFace Farm is part of an indoor veteran and community center that focuses on whole-health wellness. Not only does this farm provide a healthy environment for bringing veterans and community members together socially, but it is also designed for educational workshops and vocational training for beginning farmers and agricultural enthusiasts. Farmers, local businesses, veteran organizations and nonprofits can schedule tours and host staff-bonding outings here.
AboutFace Farm is meant to raise awareness of environmental, climate, and population growth concerns, educating visitors on how they can trust themselves to safely grow produce for themselves, their families, and even for their entire communities.
Empower, Heal, Grow – Join Us at Project GROW
AboutFace-USA’s Project GROW (Gardening Recreation Outreach and Wellness) is the home of AboutFace-Farm. This pioneering veterans’ program was created by Joe LaBranche, a former 0031 Machine Gunner at Mike Company, 3/7, First Marine Division in Vietnam, 1967-68. Transitioning of any kind can be daunting, isolating, and can raise anxiety levels. We are encouraging veterans to explore new technology, new farming methods, new communications in a friendly, safe environment, close to home. We produce fresh, nutritious produce and microgreens while fostering a sustainable environment for healing and growth. This is where community farming and veterans can blossom together.
Veterans participating in Project GROW experience a range of benefits, including self and social awareness, relationship building skills, vocational skills, and community engagement opportunities.
Meet Our Partners: ATL Urban Farms
At AboutFace Farm, gardening is more than just a hobby—it’s a pathway to healing and growth for our veterans. Through therapeutic gardening activities, we provide a nurturing environment where veterans can reconnect with nature, learn new skills, and find solace in the beauty of growth. Join us as we cultivate hope and cultivate change, one seed at a time.
Our Mission
Our mission is to harness the therapeutic power of gardening to provide veterans with a peaceful, productive environment for rehabilitation and personal growth. We believe in creating a space where veterans can thrive physically, emotionally, and socially, helping them to transition smoothly back into civilian life.
Wellness
Whole-Health is the goal of Project GROW. Through tower gardening, education and activities for physical, mental, spiritual, nutritional, and financial strengthening are included throughout the gardening season. Strengthen relationships that are safe and community oriented.
Impact on Veterans
Veterans participating in Project GROW experience a range of benefits, including improved mental health, increased physical activity, and enhanced social connections. Our program also aims to reduce isolation by fostering a sense of purpose and community involvement.
