Empowering Families to Support Their Service Members and Veterans
At AboutFace-USA®, we understand the unique challenges faced by military families. The transition from military to civilian life can be incredibly difficult, and the impacts of trauma, combat stress, PTSD, and other mental health conditions can be profound. To support our community, we are proud to offer the NAMI Homefront program, a free, 6-session educational course designed specifically for families, friends, and significant others of military Service Members and Veterans.
About NAMI Homefront
NAMI Homefront is an invaluable resource that helps families gain a deeper understanding of what their Service Member or Veteran is experiencing. This program is led by trained facilitators with personal experience in dealing with the mental health conditions affecting military personnel. The curriculum covers critical topics including:
- Understanding Trauma and PTSD: Gain insights into the effects of trauma and the symptoms of PTSD, and learn practical strategies to support your loved one.
- Navigating Combat Stress: Understand the psychological and emotional impacts of combat and how to help your Service Member manage stress effectively.
- Facilitating Civilian Life Transition: Learn about the common challenges faced during the transition to civilian life and how to ease this process for your Service Member.
- Supporting Mental Health: Explore various mental health conditions, their symptoms, and the best practices for providing support while maintaining your own well-being.

While the NAMI Homefront classes are free, an application process is required to ensure the program is a good fit for your needs. Space is limited, so we encourage you to apply early.
